Rick Bellairs' family moved to Woodstock in 1969. While attending Woodstock High School he began a career in radio alongside his father, Mal Bellairs. He worked at the family owned radio station in Crystal Lake from 1972-1984.

In 1984 Rick took a job at a new English language radio station in Tokyo. He says he loved his time in Japan but after 4 years he decided it was time to move on. He took the long way home, heading west. Rick spent 4 months backpacking through China and Tibet, then a month in Thailand and a month in Nepal where he trekked to Base Camp at Mt. Everest. Then he went on to India, Turkey, what was then Yugoslavia and on through Europe. In all he traveled by plane, train, boat, bus, donkey cart and foot through 15 countryies over 15 months.

He ended his travels in time to join his brothers and sisters for a surprise 70th birthday party for his father. While back he met Ellen and they were married a year later. Ellen is a school teacher in McHenry and has 2 children from a previous marriage. Tessa is at the Universidy of Illinois and Brennan is a Graduate of the University of Iowa.

Rick joined Harding Real Estate in 1992. After successfully completing a required education program he received the GRI designation (Graduate Realtor Institute) and has also been awarded the CRS designation (Certified Residential Spricialist), the highest designation awarded to sales associates in the residential field. The CRS designation recognized professional accomplishments in both experience and education.

Rick and Ellen have trafveled back to China twice in recent years to adopt their daughters Mallory and Jade. Rick enjoys playing with his kids and watching them participate in various sports. He enjoys fine dining and sushi, skiing, swimming and volleball. He enjoys time with his family and friends and obviously travel.
